MWFA Profile – Adam Penfold

Adam Penfold

LAST Saturday saw Adam Penfold draw the curtain on what has been an unforgettable time playing football on the northern beaches.

The chiropractor played in CC Strikers’ 2-2 draw with Mosman at Allan Border Oval in the MWFA Premier League, and at the final whistle it dawned on him an important chapter of his life was now closed.

“I’m moving the family to Yamba to run a business there,” Penfold said.

“It will be hard to leave – I’ve used my football as a stress release and I also love the exercise.

“I’ll miss the atmosphere on game day more than anything.”

Penfold began playing in the under-6s in 1988.

His on field highlights have been numerous.

“Winning the (NSW) Champion of Champions in the under-12s was great fun, as was winning two competitions in the AL/1s,” he said.

“When it comes to the (MWFA) Premier League, wins over Brookie were always nice, especially a couple of games when we were two goals down.”

In his teenage years, Penfold graced the representative arena with Manly.

A smart defender, he was renowned for his ability to read the game and always giving 100 per cent.

“I kept coming back (to CC Strikers) because I loved the squad mentality,” he said.

“Nothing beats playing for your mates and getting fit at the same time.

“My mum Jacky has been at every game I’ve ever played, she is my greatest supporter.”
