MWFA Profile – Zita Briones

Zita Briones www

EVERY club in the Manly Warringah Football Association would crave the business skills of Zita Briones.

CC Strikers are the lucky ones who have the accountant volunteering her time and expertise.

“My two boys play in the under-9s and under-11s, so when the club put the call out for a treasurer, I was happy to help,” she said.

“My husband (Gonzalo) coaches the girls in the 16s and is also the results coordinator, so I guess you could say it’s a family affair.”

Zita took on the treasurer role this year and has previously been an age coordinator as well as a team manager.

“I like to be involved in what my kids are doing,” she said.

“It is very rewarding and it is great to part of such a pro-active committee.”

CC Strikers club president Anthony Pollard couldn’t speak highly enough of Zita.

“We are very lucky to have her in our corner,” he said.

“She always goes above and beyond – her input and skills have been invaluable.”

Zita had one season playing football at St Matthews Farm but prefers watching – and from 2002-2004 she rowed for Australia.
