MWFA Profile: Robbie Brindle

ROBBIE Brindle may as well be the poster boy for Manly Allambie Football Club.

Apart from one “rogue” season playing in the MWFA Premier League with St Augustine’s, the 33-year-old has been a familiar face for almost three decades at Millers Reserve.

“I love the club, I’ve got so many great memories since first playing for the Allambie ‘Chocolate Soldiers’ when I was six,” he said.

“I’ve been fortunate to make some lifelong friendships along the way as well.

“Probably the highlights were finishing top four in the Premier League a few years ago then a Cup final at Cromer Park – unfortunately Brookvale beat us in both games.”

Brindle named Brookie striker Justin Hayward as the best player he has ever lined up against.

“He’s just an animal,” he said.

“Quick, two-footed – he can change games himself.”

The goalkeeper also revealed 2017 will be his final one for the club.

“I’m moving up to the Central Coast with my wife in October,” he said.

“Hopefully our AL/1s team can compete for the title this year – getting promoted and winning a grand final would be the perfect way to go out.”
