Coaching Workshop a great success

The MWFA Inaugural MWFA Coach Education workshop was a huge success on Monday 24thApril. The workshop was designed for Coaches who coach competitive 11 aside teams. 38 coaches from across the MWFA attended the workshop.

” To have such a positive turnout for this first workshop was terrific to see, it shows that there is a demand for short and precise education sessions as coaches may not have the time to attend a full coaching course”, Adams said.

A special thanks to Warren Grieve from Manly United for facilitating the workshop and offering his expertise and also to the players and parents from Manly Vale FC U15 Division 1 for coming to Cromer to participate in the session.

Feedback from the coaches who attended was extremely positive. ” It was enlightening to see the drill in practise to what the actual MUFC 1stteam did against Rockdale. It was demonstrated so it was easy to understand and Ill be able to use it while coaching my own teams.” Andy Saunders from Belrose Terrey Hills Soccer Club said.

The MWFA aim to make coach education as accessible as possible, offering courses is one dimension however the MWFA have recognised that we need to offer alternative educational opportunities for our member coaches and these workshops will go some way to supporting them.

The next workshop will be held at Cromer Park on Monday 29th May 5pm-6:30pm and will be focusing on the Skill Acquisition phase for coaches working with players aged 9-13 years old. To register, please email Christopher.adams@mwfa.com.au with your phone number and club you are coaching at.
