WPLAvsWakehurst 664

AVALON were at their determined best on Sunday, toppling Manly Vale A 2-1 at Careel Bay.

In what was a bruising encounter which saw players from both teams finish with injuries on the bench, the lady reds collected three points thanks to goals from Ashley McEwan and Georgia Klemes.

Co-coach Kerry McEwan was proud of the effort from her playing group.

“Manly Vale A are a very good side, it could have gone either way,” she said.

“Our girls said pre-game they were sick of losing, they were determined to fight for everything.

“We need to be consistent, results like this won’t hurt our momentum.”

Seaforth and Brookvale drew 1-1 in the other game while Wakehurst had the bye.
